Writing and Editing
You can think of scientific writing as a spectrum.
At one end, there is the technical nitty gritty, including presenting research results and laboratory chemical analysis, writing detailed work plans and reports, etc.
At the other end, there is interpretation of complex scientific concepts for consumption by the general public, making natural science accessible to everyone.
Antheia Environmental is skilled at both. We can edit a report and ensure methylnaphthalene is spelled correctly and parts per million aren’t confused with parts per trillion. We can do extensive literature reviews and synthesize findings. We can also turn jargon into common sense. Click the links below for examples of past projects.
Education and Outreach
When you have years of education and experience in environmental science, you want to share it. Education and outreach are great ways to include everyone in conservation science.
You can find examples of user-friendly plant species descriptions and open-source images Antheia Environmental has compiled at the link below.
A great resource for anyone interested in learning more about invasive plants in Alaska is this book produced by the Alaska Center for Conservation Science (previously known as the Alaska Natural Heritage Program) at the University of Alaska, Anchorage. Antheia Environmental’s principal is co-author.
Field Work Support
Field work in Alaska takes a team. If you need an extra hand, we have extensive experience with surveys, inventory, data collection, logistics, planning, scheduling, budgets, and wetland delineation. We have travel experience with helicopters, fix-winged air crafts, canoe, and pack raft. Additionally, training in CPR/AED/First Aid, Wilderness First Aid, and Bear Awareness and Defense.
Beaver Creek float trip with Homer SWCD (as a contractor) to survey for reed canarygrass
Cover crop trials with Homer SWCD (as staff) - Research study to compare efficacy of 24 agricultural cover crops
Data Management
We work in Excel, Access, ArcGIS, Surfer, and Voxler. This covers simple and relational databases, and surface and subsurface mapping. We can interpret laboratory lingo for soil and water samples, QA/QC datasets, and do analyses and graphing of data.
